Information Collection on Patrol (InCOP 1) Training

Training Synopsis

Information Collection on Patrol (InCOP) 1 enables police officers to become better information collectors by incorporating Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) training with MIPT’s signature police training offering.

In addition to the one hour SAR instruction, participants are trained through the Hypervigilance on PatrolSM process, which gives police officers a unique and powerful way of scanning the patrol environment. MIPT gives officers the tools to become dominant in The Patrol DomainSM; their area of thought, influence and action. By using The 2 Minute InterviewSM technique, every law enforcement interaction becomes an information collection opportunity.

Emphasizing a behavior based approach to reporting with attention to the protection of civil liberties and privacy, InCOP 1 ensures collection will be lawful and ethical.

Training Objectives

Participants will learn the importance of their role as a collector in developing actionable intelligence; the behavior based reporting model, the power of intelligence and the civil liberties issues that attach. They will also develop an understanding of the information-sharing environment within their police department.

There is no cost to qualified participants.

Approved by FEMA National Preparedness Directorate, National Training and Education Division, AWR-297.
