Trauma Pak with QuikClot

July 13, 2010

Adventure Medical Kits released its Trauma Pak with QuikClot, the latest addition to join AMK’s offering of QuikClot products, the Trauma Pak with QuikClot  marks the first collaboration between Adventure Medical Kits and QuikClot manufacturer Z-Medica Corp.

The new Trauma Pak with QuikClot comes stocked with hospital quality wound care essentials such as trauma pads, sterile gauze, wraps and duct tape to secure dressings or improvise a seal for a sucking chest wound, non-latex gloves and biohazard disposal bag, a no-nonsense instructional sheet with information on how to quickly diagnose and treat various types of wounds and, last but not least, a 25 g pack of QuikClot Sport.

U.S. Military Approved QuikClot Stops Traumatic Bleeding in Under Five Minutes

Used extensively by the U.S. Military, as well as law enforcement, EMT and other medical professionals around the world, QuikClot is one of the most effective and highly reviewed hemostatic product available. Developed by Z-Medica Corp., QuikClot Sport is a sponge made of porous fabric that contains tiny beads of the mineral Zeolite. When placed onto a wound, the QuikClot sponge conforms to the shape of the injury and rapidly stops venous and arterial bleeding in less than five minutes. By contrast, conventional methods for stopping bleeding, such as applying direct pressure, can take between 10 minutes to 30 minutes to clot blood, but by that time it can be too late.

Superior Technology That is Safe and Effective

When QuikClot comes into contact with a bleeding wound it rapidly absorbs smaller water molecules from the blood. Only the larger platelet and clotting factor molecules remain in the wound in a highly concentrated form – a process that promotes extremely rapid clotting and prevents severe blood loss. QuikClot’s FDA-approved low-heat formula is biologically inert, so there’s no chance of an allergic reaction occurring. And unlike competitors’ products, many of which come in the form of loose granules, there’s no risk of QuikClot scattering in windy conditions or becoming easily activated by rain or water.

Whether at the range, in the field or even in an urban setting, the lightweight pocket-size Trauma Pak with QuikClot provides the ultimate insurance for the gun enthusiast, medical or law enforcement professional who wants to be prepared to survive a worst case scenario, says AMK’s Meyer.
