eCite is an electronic application and ticketing process created by the Center for Advanced Public Safety (CAPS) at the University of Alabama. It is part of MOVE (Mobile Officer Virtual Environment), a secure suite of mobile law enforcement software that integrates data queries, license scanners, and GPS devices with data entry software for ticketing, crash reporting, and incident and offense reporting.

Built on Microsoft's .NET platform, eCite reduces clerical errors and administration by enabling troopers to issue citations while simultaneously updating multiple databases. In the case of Alabama, after a citation is given, eCite transmits the tickets to the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts (AOC) central SQL server - ensuring data integrity and eliminating delays in the processing and collection of fines or uncollectible tickets. With information transmitted electronically from the troopers to the AOC to the district courts, there is never a need for hand data entry of the ticket.

eCite is continually being enhanced for Alabama, New Mexico, Mississippi, and other states.
