Cold Case:DNA

Orchid Cellmark introduces Cold Case:DNA, a service that utilizes DNA evidence to assist in the investigation and prosecution of cold cases. DNA is highly stable and can be successfully tested years after collection. Even if evidence is degraded, alternative testing methods such as Mitochondrial or Y-STR testing can be useful in producing a profile. Depending on the type of profile generated, it can be compared to those in the CODIS database or to other evidentiary profiles. A match can potentially solve the crime or at the very least, refocus the investigation.
