Tempe Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit

A customized Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit built by LDV Inc., to provide for universality of operations and maintenance has been delivered to the Tempe Police Department. The department currently has a Mobile Command Unit and a Special Weapons and Tactics vehicle in their service that were also designed and built by LDV Inc. In addition to its use within the City of Tempe, the vehicle is a part of a program developed in Arizona involving Homeland Security. This unit is powered by a Freightliner MT-55 forward control chassis, with 25,500 GVWR. A turbo-charged Cummins diesel engine and an Allison 2200 EVS heavy-duty 5-speed automatic transmission are also on board. 800 MHz communications radios, landline, cellular fixed wireless phones are also installed.
