LoJack Adds 30-Year Southern California Auto Theft Prevention Veteran to National L.E. Liaison Team

Former Baldwin Park, Calif. Police Officer Kevin Gauthier has joined the company's Law Enforcement Liaison team covering the Orange County and Los Angeles areas.

CANTON, Mass., Oct. 10, 2013 -- LoJack Corporation, a provider of vehicle theft recovery systems and advanced fleet management solutions, announced today that former Baldwin Park (CA) Police Officer Kevin Gauthier has joined the company's Law Enforcement Liaison team covering the Orange County and Los Angeles areas. With nearly 30 years in law enforcement specializing in motor vehicle theft, Gauthier will provide an added level of support and expertise to local Southern California police departments using LoJack's vehicle theft recovery technology.

"Kevin's arrival at LoJack couldn't have come at a better time. According to a report issued by the FBI this month,* motor vehicle thefts have increased in the Los Angeles area by nearly 3% in 2012. And, unfortunately, the National Insurance Crime Bureau Hot Spots numbers are just as bad with seven California cities ranking in the top-ten for most vehicle thefts," said Patrick Clancy, Vice President of the LoJack Law Enforcement Department. "Kevin's expertise with investigating motor vehicle thefts for nearly three decades will provide a tremendous resource for local law enforcement agencies using our technology to recover stolen vehicles and keep the general public safe."

Gauthier will be responsible for professional training, providing vehicle tracking equipment for police vehicles and aviation units, and serving as an advisor to law enforcement agencies throughout Orange County and Los Angeles - all of whom use LoJack's vehicle tracking technology to combat auto theft. He joins a team of law enforcement liaisons with more than 1,000 years of experience in the field.

Gauthier began his career with the Baldwin Park Police Department in 1984 and held many positions over the course of his tenure including a seven-year stint on the Taskforce for Regional Autotheft Prevention (TRAP). As part of TRAP, Gauthier worked on high profile investigations involving commercialized professional thieves. Gauthier was also a member of the Western States Auto Theft Investigators and the Orange County Auto Theft Investigators. In 2003, Gauthier was promoted to Sergeant of the Baldwin Park Police Department and worked extensively with LoJack technologies to help recover stolen vehicles in the area.

There have been more stolen vehicle recoveries involving the LoJack System in California than any other state in the U.S. - a statistic that Gauthier has helped contribute to throughout his career. "I am honored and excited to bring my vehicle theft recovery experience to the LoJack team," said Gauthier. "I have worked on numerous vehicle theft cases over the course of my 29-year career in the Baldwin Park Police Department and look forward to continuing to serve the area using LoJack technology to promote safety, protection and awareness in Southern California."
