Providence, RI – CDR Maguire and the Disaster Resistant Communities Group (DRCG) have launched an internet-based active shooter exercise series entitled, The Institutional Shield Exercise Initiative (www.InstitutionalShield.org). This exercise series is designed to provide various organizations the opportunity to test their plans, policies, and procedures for a response to and recovery from an active shooter incident. All exercises are conducted using DRCG’s Online Exercise System or ONX System (www.ONXSystem.com) and are Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)-compliant. The goal of the program is to offer low-cost, high benefit exercises to the community.
The Institutional Shield Exercise Initiative offers ten different exercises for incident response teams to work through. These exercises are focused on five venues: Colleges/Universities, Community Events, Hospitals, Schools, and Workplace. For each venue, there is both an Active Shooter Response and an Active Shooter Consequence Management Tabletop Exercise. The initial round of exercises is slated to run during the month of April.
