CLIO, MI—Police shot and killed the suspect in a double homicide late Tuesday after they were met with gunfire while responding to calls for shots fired, authorities said early Wednesday morning.
Officers with the Clio Police Department and deputies with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, to the 600 block of North Mill Street following reports of a domestic dispute and shots being fired.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman on the steps of an apartment building but were also met with a man with a shotgun, police said.
The man walked into the roadway, police said, and shot at police.
Officers returned fire, shooting the man. He was treated at the scene before being taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said a man and a woman were found during a sweep of the apartment, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The names of those involved in the incident weren’t immediately available.
Police said the investigation is being conducted by Clio police, as well as the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police.
