A DeSoto Parish, Louisiana Sheriff's deputy died in a crash while riding his motorcycle to work Thursday morning.
Deputy Christopher Sharply was driving his 2012 Harley Davidson on Highway 171 around 7 a.m. when a 2013 Dodge Challenger driven by 23-year-old Tarrius White entered at the intersection with Rieves Road, according to KSLA-TV.
Officials said that Sharply, who was not wearing an approved helmet at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injures after his motorcycle collided with the car.
The condition of White was not released.
"Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle and the entire DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office would ask the public to help us remember Chris and his family during this tragic time," a statement sent out Thursday read.
