Newly released surveillance video shows a robbery suspect attack a Cincinnati police officer with a knife before he was fatally shot on Sunday.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters announced Monday afternoon that Officer Anthony Brucato was justified in the shooting of Jawari Porter and that the case will not be taken before a grand jury, according to WLWT-TV.

The video first shows Porter first hold the knife to the neck of a security guard inside a Kroger grocery store that he robber before exiting the business around 7:20 a.m. The video then shows the confrontation with police 20 minutes later in downtown as Porter rushes Brucato as he opens his cruiser door.

"Extremely rapidly evolving, this was a deadly force encounter," Police Chief Eliot Isaac said during a news conference. "He's being attacked by a knife. This officer had no other course of action than to defend himself in the manner that he did."

Brucato sustained an abrasion on his forearm during the incident and was put on administrative leave pending the investigation.
