Border Agent Brutally Beaten by Illegal Crosser

A U.S. Border Patrol agent fatally shot an illegal border crosser after he was brutally attacked Thursday night.

The border agent attempted to arrested the illegal immigrant around 10 p.m. near Yuma, Arizona when officials say the man assaulted the agent, according to KNXV-TV.

"During the arrest, the subject grabbed the agent's radio and collapsible steel baton and began striking him in the face and head while he also attempted to remove the Agent’s sidearm from its holster," officials said.

Both men were transported to a hospital where the suspect was pronounced dead.

The agent suffered a concussion and multiple bruises and lacerations to his head which required stitches.

The incident is currently under investigation.
