The New Braunfels Police Department is showing off the newest addition to its fleet: a previously seized sports car it has dubbed "Coptimus Prime."
The 2007 Chevy Corvette Z06, which retails for about $80,000, was determined to have been bought using drug money after police broke up a large methamphetamine trafficking ring, according to KENS-TV.
The flashy vehicle -- named after the Transformers character Optimus Prime -- won't be used to pull over speeders though and will only be a part of the department for two years before being auctioned off.
"Our department is always looking for ways to interact with our community in a positive way," New Braunfels Police Department Communications Coordinator David Ferguson told the news station. "We decided to make it a community outreach tool."
Ferguson added that it is also being used as a crime prevention tool as well.
"It's kind of like a driving billboard for drug dealers and criminals saying 'Hey look, crime doesn’t pay,' " he said.
"Coptimus Prime" will be deputed Friday at the Comal County Fair and parade.
