Ky. Corrections Officer Dies Following Shift

A corrections officer at a jail in Shepherdsville, Ky. died on March 5 after suffering a heart attack following a shift.

Lt. Scott Travis worked the 2 p.m. to midnight shift Wednesday night at the Bullitt County Detention Center and finished his shift clearing a path in the snow for cars at the parking lot, according to WDRB-TV.

Officials say that shortly after, the 55-year-old began complaining of chest pain and was found dead after he returned home -- still in his uniform.

Travis had served with the detention center for 11 years.

Funeral Arrangements

The visitation will be held Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction, Ky.

The funeral will then be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.
