Brain Tumor Found After Iowa Trooper's Crash

Doctors discovered a brain tumor after Trooper Nathan Rippey was injured in a crash Friday night.

An Iowa State Patrol trooper involved in crash Friday night suffered only minor injuries, but the crash may have saved his life.

Officials with the Iowa Department of Public Safety say that Trooper Nathan Rippey blacked out while driving on Interstate 80 near Altoona while on during when the crash occurred, according to KCCI-TV.

Rippey, whose vehicle went into a ditch, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. While there, doctors discovered he had a brain tumor.

The trooper was scheduled to have surgery to remove the tumor Monday morning.
