A dashcam video shows a Stuart, Fla. officer being attacked by three dogs during a traffic stop on June 12.

Officer Joe Calderone spoke to WPTV about the incident.

"It just happened so quick," he told the news station.

The video shows the dogs jump out of a truck before biting Calderone on his right knee and behind his left thight.

The officer then runs off camera to the passenger side of his patrol car to get away from the dogs.

The incident began when Calderone pulled a woman over for speeding and had a hard time hearing what she was saying. The woman got out of her vehicle and the dogs pushed past her.

Calderone went to a wellness clinic after the incident and his injuries have healed quickly.

"Nobody wants to shoot a dog especially with their owner right there," Calderone said. "Luckily I didn't have to."

Stuart police officers don't receive formal training for dog attacks and are using the video and the incident as a lesson.

The owner of the dogs was cited by animal control.
