June 10--

A robbery suspect who police say tied up employees of a Chamblee auto parts store was shot and killed by police Monday night after he allegedly pulled a gun on officers.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of an AutoZone store on Buford Highway, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The station reported that someone called Chamblee police just before midnight and said five employees were tied up inside the store.

When officers arrived, the suspect tried to run from the store, and as officers tried to arrest him, he pulled out a gun.

"They gave him verbal commands to get on the ground," Chamblee police Capt. Ernesto Ford told Channel 2. "He refused."

Ford said the man began struggling with police, and during the struggle, "one of our officers shot and fatally wounded the suspect."

The GBI is investigating the incident. The suspect's name has not been released.
