Arizona Police Officer Killed During Traffic Stop

A Salt River, Ariz. police officer died Saturday after being shot during an early morning traffic stop in Scottsdale.

Officer Jair Cabrera was making a traffic stop near a Chevron gas station on Pima and Chaparral roads 3 a.m. when shots were fired by one of the suspects in the vehicle, according to KNXV-TV.

The officer was taken to an area hospital, where the officer later died from their injuries.

Three suspects were in the car at the time of shooting, according to the FBI. All have been taken into custody and the one who shot Cabrera is expected to face federal charges.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
