Maryland Officer Seriously Injured in Cruiser Crash

A Prince George's County police officer was seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning.

A Prince George's County, Md. police officer was seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning.

The unidentified police officer was hit by a minivan in Forestville on Pennsylvania Avenue around 9 a.m., according to WJLA-TV.

Three police cruisers were at the scene of a traffic stop in the northbound lanes when two of the vehicles drove away as a minivan drove toward them. Only one of the cruisers was struck.

Officials say the officer was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the minivan was also taken to a local hospital.

No charges have been filed.

The crash is currently under investigation.
