Bellaire Officer Mike Wheeler rear-ended Lt. Joohn Watson as they were transporting two arrestees.

Two Bellaire, Ohio police officer and two arrestees were injured after two cruisers collided Tuesday night.

Police responded to a fight near Franklin Street around 10 p.m. and arrested Amber Preston and Christopher Bennett, according to The Times Leader.

Both suspects were loaded into separate patrol cars to be taken to the hospital to be cleared for transport to jail.

Police Chief Mike Kovalyk told the newspaper that both arrestees were being combative during the transport. Officer Mike Wheeler was forced to use a Taser on Preston while Bennett began spitting at Lt. Joohn Watson.

Watson stopped his vehicle after Bennett allegedly made death threats against him and his family, which is the same time that Wheeler rear-ended the cruiser along the on-ramp to Ohio 7 from 48th Street.

Kovalyk said that while both cruisers were totaled, no one was seriously injured in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
