An officer witnessed a man steal a 28-year-old woman's car Tuesday while he conducted a DUI check on the victim on Cusseta Road, according to a Columbus Police report.

At about 3 a.m., Officer Greg Anderson pulled over the 2010 Dodge Charger near 10th Avenue after noticing the driver was not dimming her headlights for oncoming traffic. When Anderson smelled an alcoholic beverage, he asked the driver to step out of the vehicle so he could test her ability to drive.

Not long after, a passenger who remained in the vehicle hopped into the driver's seat and sped off. The victim told Anderson that she had just met the man at the Foxy Lady, and only knew him as "Bernard."

Sufficient description was not available of the passenger. The Charger was described as a blue 4-door style vehicle with a license plate number of PNR8750. It was valued at $20,000.
