Alabama Police Officer in Cruiser Shot by Suspect

An officer was shot while in his patrol car in Pine Hill and a suspect was taken into custody Tuesday.

A police officer was shot while in his patrol car in Wilcox County, Ala. on Tuesday.

The unidentified officer pulled into the yard of a residence in Pine Hill while responding to a call and was shot.

Officials said that the shot came from an upstairs window and traveled through the patrol car windshield, striking the officer twice.

The officer was flown to Baptist South Hospital for treatment of wounds to his shoulder and arm.

The officer's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Wilcox County Jail in Camden.

The shooting is currently under investigation.
