Calif. Firefighter Detained at Scene of Crash

A California Highway Patrol officer detained a Chula Vista firefighter at the scene of a crash Tuesday night.

The crash occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. south of Telegraph Canyon Road on I-805 after a car struck a construction barrier, causing the vehicle to overturn in the middle of the construction site, according to KGTV.

The driver and passenger were both transported to a local hospital to be treated.

During the response to the crash, the firefighter parked in the No. 1 lane on southbound I-805 and officers told him to move.

When the firefighter refused to move the vehicle, he was detained, handcuffed and placed in a CHP patrol car.

The firefighter was later released and the exact details that led to the incident were unclear.
