A Greensville County, Va. Sheriff's deputy missing since Friday morning was found hours later deceased in his vehicle in a creek.

Deputy Percy Lee House's body was discovered by a dive team dispatched to the scene not far from where the vehicle was last reported, according to a news release from the Virginia Sheriffs' Association.

The Virginia State Police is in the midst of conducting a full investigation and the crash is believed to be the result of icy road conditions.

"I want to thank my staff, volunteers from our community, and public safety agencies from the surrounding area for their quick response and support over the last 24 hours," Greensville County Sheriff James Edwards said in a statement. "The loss of Deputy Lee House III to our close department and our community is tragic and unexpected. Please keep his family and all of our first responders in your thoughts and prayers."

House, 52, last made contact with the sheriff’s office around 9:24 a.m. After he was reported missing, responders from agencies across the area launched a search for him and the sheriff's office sent a "be on a lookout" notice to law enforcement agencies around 3 p.m.
