Ohio Campus Police Officer Collapses, Dies On Duty

Cincinnati State Campus Police Officer Chris Couch died after collapsing in the parking lot on Jan. 8.

A Cincinnati State Campus Police Department officer died last week after collapsing while on duty.

Officer Chris Couch was found on the ground in the public safety parking lot shortly before 8 a.m. on Jan. 8, according to a news release.

The 33-year-old officer was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The 5-year veteran of the police department is survived by his fiancé, Jill Ernst, and his family.

Cincinnati police will be on the campus to help relieve officers with beginning-of-semester duties and allow them to attend to affairs involving their colleague's death.

The former Norwood, Ohio police officer also served with the Hamilton County Honor Guard.

Funeral services were Couch for held on Monday.
