Canadian Constable Dies Following Training Exercise

A York Regional Police officer died Friday morning -- more than two weeks after breaking his leg during a training exercise.

Constable Michael Pegg, 36, suffered the injury during a requalification exercise at a facility in Vaughan on Nov. 12, according to The Toronto Star.

The 10-year veteran underwent surgery on Nov. 15 and remained at the hospital where he was pronounced dead on Nov. 29.

The cause of his death has not yet been determined.

"It came as a shock," Constable Laura Nicolle told the newspaper. "All of our officers are grieving and saddened by this sudden loss."

Funeral arrangements are pending.
