Alabama Police Officer Killed in Cruiser Crash

Investigator Michael Dale Stockwell died in a crash while driving home in an unmarked cruiser.

An Orange Beach, Ala. police officer was killed in a two-vehicle wreck while driving home in an unmarked cruiser Tuesday night.

Investigator Michael Dale Stockwell was traveling through the intersection of County Road 12 and the Foley Beach Expressway when the crash occurred around 9 p.m., according to WPMI-TV.

The officer was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officials say the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Stockwell was a 9-year veteran of the Orange Beach Police Department and is survived by his fiancé and two teenage daughters.

Funeral Arrangements

Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Elberta, Ala.

Burial will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park on Highway 98 in Foley.
