A man sleeping on a picnic table ran from the officer before biting him on the leg while being retrained.

A College Station man is in the Brazos County Jail after fleeing from police early Friday and biting an officer on his knee, according to a police report.

An officer found Hector Ocampo Jr. sleeping on a picnic table near the 300 block of Church Street, department spokeswoman Patricia Logan said a press release.

The officer woke Ocampo, who appeared to the officer to be intoxicated. The report says Ocampo didn't identify himself and tried to run away. The officer caught Ocampo and tried to restrain him, at which point Ocampo bit the officer's right knee. The officer didn't need medical attention, but did sustain minor injuries.

Ocampo, 20, is facing five charges, including public intoxication, evading arrest, resisting arrest, failure to identify as a fugitive and assault on a public servant, which is a third-degree felony. Ocampo's bail is set at $12,000.

The public intoxication charge carries a fine of $435.

According to court records, a motion was filed Aug. 7 to have to have Ocampo's probation revoked relating to a 2011 conviction for burglarizing a home, a second-degree felony. That motion is yet to be resolved.
