Ariz. Police Officer, Suspect Wounded in Shooting

A Glendale police dog also sustained serious injuries in the incident Thursday night.

A Glendale police officer, a K-9 and a suspect were shot in a backyard Thursday night.

The incident occurred near Northern and 51st avenues around 6:45 p.m. after police received a call from a nearby convenience store about a man refusing to leave, according to KNXV-TV.

Officials say the man then fled the scene into a neighborhood.

A perimeter was set up and officers found the man hiding in a backyard. Police say the man then displayed a handgun in a threatening manner and officers opened fire.

The suspect sustained life-threatening injuries while an officer and a K-9 were also struck.

The wounded officer is in stable condition while the police dog suffered serious injuries.
