Video Shows Drunken Driver Hit Michigan Officer

A drunken driver swiped a Pittsfield Township officer at a Burger King drive-thru on Valentine's Day.

The Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety has released video of a drunken driver hitting a police officer outside a fast food restaurant on Valentine's Day.

Police say Robert Addie had a blood alcohol content of .25 when he went through a Burger King drive-thru on Michigan Avenue across from the Pittsfield Police Department at approximately 1:38 p.m. on Feb. 14, according to AnnArbor.com.

Officers were called to the restaurant after receiving reports that Addie and a passenger in the 2003 Ford Taurus he was driving were causing a disturbance with employees.

The video shows one officer talking to the passenger as the vehicle is parked at the drive-thru window while another officer stands in front of the car.

As the officer standing in front of the Taurus attempts to direct the driver to pull over to the side of the parking lot, Addie tries to flee the scene, swiping the officer, causing him to fall to the ground.

The officer suffered minor injuries.

Police then follow the suspect down Michigan Avenue, where cruisers swarm his vehicle. He initially resisted arrest, but was quickly subdued and arrested.

Addie was sentenced to 2-5 years in prison last week for the incident.
