D.C. Officer Injured; Suspect Shot Dead

May 29, 2013
The dead man may be a carjacking suspect.

A D.C. police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon, and a carjacking suspect is dead.

Originally, it was reported that the officer had been shot. However, that later changed.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier told reporters someone flagged down two police officers about an alleged armed carjacking about 2:15 p.m.

They followed the car, and the suspect got out in the 800 block of Barnaby Street SE, where shots were fired, according to WTOP.

The officer is said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was taken to a hospital where he died.

The investigation is continuing.
