Man Charged With Murder Following Chicago Pursuit

Timothy Jones was charged with felony murder following A police chase that left a woman dead.

A Far South Side man was charged with felony murder following a Wednesday-morning police chase that left a woman dead.

Police say 20-year-old Timothy Jones, of the 12500 block of South Union Avenue, was fleeing a home invasion when a police SUV chasing him crashed into a woman's car Wednesday morning, killing her.

The crash happened at 76th Street and Yates Boulevard about 10:20 a.m., shortly after a reported home invasion in the 7800 block of South Ellis Avenue.

Jones was also charged with armed home invasion, armed robbery with a firearm, leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death, attempting to elude police, and misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident.

He was also given four citations -blowing a red light, driving 30 miles per hour above the speed limit, driving without insurance and failing to stop for emergency vehicles.

Jones is due in court Friday.
