Ga. Police Chief Dies After Responding to Call

Barwick Police Chief Tony Barfield suffered an apparent fatal heart attack while on duty Tuesday night.

The chief of the Barwick Police Department suffered an apparent fatal heart attack while on duty Tuesday night.

Police Chief Tony Barfield was finishing a response to a domestic dispute call when he began experiencing shortness of breath, according to The Thomasville Times-Enterprise.

Barfield called 911 and responders arrived on the scene and began administering CPR.

The 47-year-old was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Barfield appointed police chief in 2009 and served 20 years in law enforcement.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
