Texas Trooper Finds 3.9 Tons of Marijuana in Tanker

A Texas Highway Patrol trooper was performing a routine commercial vehicle inspection when he found the 7,816 pounds of the drug concealed in the vehicle.

A Texas Highway Patrol trooper discovered 3.9 tons of marijuana in a tanker truck Tuesday in Corpus Christi.

The trooper was performing a routine commercial vehicle inspection when he found the 7,816 pounds of the drug concealed in the vehicle, according to The Caller.

The driver, Paul Anthony Simmons, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and is being held on $1 million bail.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials estimate the drugs at a street value of more than $3.4 million.
