A driver fleeing police in a stolen car was injured along with a person in another vehicle in St. Paul on Wednesday morning, police said.

Paramedics took both to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Sgt. Paul Paulos, St. Paul police spokesman.

At about 7 a.m., police saw a Hyundai that had been reported stolen from Minneapolis near Jackson Street and University Avenue. When a squad car got behind the car, the driver fled, Paulos said.

The vehicle rear-ended a pick-up truck at Marion Street and University Avenue, about five blocks to the west, causing the pick-up truck to flip onto its roof.

The female driver of the fleeing car and a passenger in the vehicle that was hit were injured.

Police continue to investigate, and charges are expected against the driver who fled from police, Paulos said. She also had a Hennepin County arrest warrant, he said.
