Miss. Police Chief Fatally Struck Directing Traffic

Enterprise Police Chief Randy Boykin was directing traffic before school Tuesday morning.

The chief of the Enterprise Police Department died Tuesday after he was struck by a car while directing traffic.

Police Chief Randy Boykin was directing traffic on Hightway 513 at River Road as he does every weekday morning before school when the incident occurred, according to WTOK-TV.

He was flown the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where he was pronounced dead.

Boykin was the chief of the department for 12 years and also worked as a part-time deputy with the Clarke County Sheriff's Office.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident. Officer.com will provide more information on this story as it becomes available.
