Canadian Constable Killed in Crash With Bus

Guelph Constable Jennifer Kovach died Thursday morning following a collision involving a transit bus.

A Guelph police officer died Thursday morning following a collision involving a bus and a cruiser.

Constable Jennifer Kovach was killed in the wreck on Imperial Road South shortly after 12:30 a.m., according to The Guelph Mercury.

Kovach's cruiser crossed the center line and struck a transit bus near the entrance to the West End Recreation Centre, officials told the newspaper.

The 26-year-old officer was transported to Guelph General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the bus was the only one on board at the time of the crash and was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has since been released.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
