Officials say the deaths appeared to be the result of a murder-suicide.

PRESTON -- A grandmother and her two grandchildren who were the subject of an Amber Alert Tuesday evening after being reported missing from North Stonington were found dead in a vehicle late Tuesday near Lake of Isles, state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said.

The deaths appeared to be the result of a murder-suicide, Vance said.

"The car was found about 9:30 p.m.," Vance said. "The woman and the two kids are both dead."

State police identified the grandmother as Debra Dennison, 47, and the grandchildren as Ashton and Alton Perry.

One child was 6 months old and one was 2 years old, Vance said.

The three had been traveling in a white 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan.

State police "secured the scene" and "our guys are going to examine it," Vance said. The bodies were to be taken to the state medical examiner's office, he said.
