Feb. 18--Memphis police are looking for a man who fled on foot after an officer attached himself to the suspect's car in an attempt to arrest him.
Police are searching for Irvin Guy, 27, in the incident that happened early Sunday morning in the 1900 block of Willow Wood in the Frayser area.
According to police, a 26-year-old woman said Guy, the father of her children, took her purse when he left the home. Officers were parked outside the home taking the report when Guy showed up in a green Nissan Maxima. Police approached Guy as he sat in the car, which was still running.
An officer approached the driver's side to tell Guy to step out. Guy refused. Officers tried to pull him out, but Guy put the car in reverse, according to a police report. He sped backward, hitting several objects, with the officer clinging to the car, police said. The officer was eventually dislodged and hit a concrete wall. The officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and was later released.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Guy, who ran from the car and remained at large Sunday.
