Feb. 13--U.S. Marshals say a fugitive wanted on a release violation led a team of agencies on a vehicle chase before his arrest in Odessa Tuesday afternoon.

Twenty-six-year-old Moises Fernando Madrid of Odessa had been released to the Midland-Odessa area after serving time in prison for distributing drugs, said U.S. Marshal Brent Sheets, a spokesman for the agency. But authorities had been searching for Madrid for several months before an officer attempted to pull him over near West Clements Street and Grant Avenue around 2:30 p.m.

Sheets said Madrid fled in the white Chevrolet Silverado he was driving, which had been reported stolen. But the chase lasted less than 10 minutes, Sheets said, and authorities apprehended Madrid near 23rd Street and Adams Avenue, charging him with violating terms of supervised release, with additional charges pending. Driver's license records list Madrid's address as 1401 Adams Avenue.

Besides the Marshals, agencies involved in the arrest included the Texas Department of Public Safety (including a DPS helicopter), the Department of Homeland Security, the Ector County Sheriff's Office and once the pursuit began, the Odessa Police Department.
