The incident occurred as Washington County deputies attempted to end the Hillsboro officer's home.

An off-duty Hillsboro police officer allegedly shot a Washington County deputy Sunday night during a domestic dispute at his home.

Officer Timothy Cannon was charged with attempted aggravated murder following the shooting near the intersection of 37th Avenue and Doubletree Street in Forest Grove shortly after 8 p.m., according to KOIN-TV.

Deputies responded to the home after a 911 call was made reporting an altercation involving the officer and his wife.

When they arrived, they learned a 6-year-old girl was inside and attempted to talk with Cannon, but at one point, shots were fired as they attempted to enter the residence.

Both Cannon and the unidentified deputy were wounded and both have since been treated and released from a local hospital.

Some residents in surrounding homes had to be evacuated during the incident and were allowed to return early Monday morning.
