Seattle Police Bust 'Handsy Bandit' in 'Stroke of Luck'

A man suspected of masturbating told police officers that he was just hiding money in his pants.

A man suspected of masturbating ended up giving himself up to Seattle police for a New Year's Eve bank robbery when he told them he was just hiding money in his pants.

Officers patrolling the area near East Pike Street and Bellevue area on Tuesday shortly after 12:30 p.m. were approached by a woman who told them she spotted the man "having a good time with himself" in the entryway to a car dealership, according to a department news release.

They found the man sitting in the doorway and suddenly realized that he looked a lot like the man in photos circulated of a suspect who robbed a US Bank near Broadway and East John Street the previous day.

When he told them he was just hiding the money, the officers matched him up to the surveillance photos and arrested him.

They found crash crammed into his pockets and the soles of his shoes,

The suspect was brought to headquarters, where he was booked into the King County Jail.

A police department statement said that the arrest of the "handsy bandit" was a "stroke of luck."
