Responding Va. Motorcycle Officer Struck, Killed

Prince William County Police Officer Chris Yung was en route to an earlier crash when he was hit.

A Prince William County police officer died in a fiery wreck Monday afternoon.

Officer Chris Yung, 35, was responding to an earlier crash when his motorcycle was struck by a minivan on Virginia State Route 28 just outside of Manassas at approximately 2:04 p.m., according to Leesburg Today.

Yung was a seven-year veteran of the force and was assigned to the traffic unit as a motorcycle officer.

Department spokesman Jonathan Perok told the newspaper that the preliminary investigation shows that the driver of the minivan was making a left-hand turn into the parking lot of a Super Target store, crossing in front of the officer's motorcycle.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
