NORTH PORT, Fla. -- A 19-year-old North Port man was Tasered and arrested after he allegedly bit an officer on Thanksgiving.

According to a North Port police report, officers responded to a home on the 3700 block of Needle Terrace shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday after a passing motorist reported hearing a woman screaming from the garage. Outside the garage, the officers heard a woman say, 'Help me, I'm sorry,' followed by a muffled male voice and some heavy thumps, the report shows. The police attempted to talk to the pair via a PA system. The woman walked out but said no one else was inside and would not give any further information.

Two officers entered the home and found the door leading to the garage locked. After ordering the man several times to come out, officers made entry into the dark garage and found Vincenzo Niclos James Luisi, 19, of the 2300 block of Oracle Lane, North Port, hiding behind a large dresser in the corner. He was ordered to show his hands and come out but did not. One of the officers moved the dresser and Luisi began struggling with them, the report shows. One officer attempted to grab Luisi's hands and he pushed away; the second officer grabbed his shoulders and Luisi spun around and bit his right forearm, the report states. Luisi was then taken to the ground and Tasered. Police found two large hunting knives on the dresser and another on the floor where Luisi had been sitting.

Luisi told police he was hiding because he was afraid to come out, the report shows. He was charged with resisting an officer with violence and battery on an officer, as well as an unrelated contempt charge for failure to appear for possession of marijuana over 20 grams. He remained at the Sarasota County Jail Monday without bond.

The woman in the home, Elizabeth Amsalem, 18, was also arrested on a charge of resisting an officer without violence for reportedly being uncooperative in the investigation. She was released from jail after posting $750 bond.
