Arizona Deputies: 700 lbs of Pot Seized at Stop

Pima County Sheriff's deputies say they found over 700 pounds of marijuana along with two illegal immigrants inside an SUV during a traffic stop Wednesday.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle because of a traffic violation and could smell the pot coming from inside and spotted several bundles that they suspected contained marijuana, according to KSAZ-TV.

Abdul Cortes-Reyes, 24, and Ignacio Cienfuego-Varela, 31, both admitted to the deputies that that the bundles in the vehicle were indeed full of marijuana and that they were in the country illegally.

The two men were arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for Sale and transportation of marijuana and were booked into Pinal County Adult Detention Center and are being held without bond.

Officials said the marijuana seized weighed a total of 716 pounds with a street value of $537,000.
