Oct. 16--State investigators are looking into a weekend altercation involving Greenfield Police Chief John Goode and possibly another law enforcement officer.
The police chief and someone he knows were at the chief's house when the altercation occurred about 3 a.m. Saturday, according to Capt. Scott Compton, commander of Illinois State Police District 18 in Litchfield.
When asked if another law enforcement officer was involved, Compton said, "that's still to be determined, but that could be a good possibility."
The Journal-Courier was unable to reach Goode for comment.
Investigators are still trying to determine if the altercation occurred inside or outside Goode's house, but Compton said he does not believe there was a break-in.
He said he does not believe there were any injuries reported and that no weapons were involved.
"No arrest has been made at this point. It's under investigation and we're still trying to determine what occurred," Compton said.
It could be several weeks before investigators conclude the investigation. The investigative reports will be turned over to State's Attorney Matt Goetten for his review and determination of whether charges will be filed.
