Oct. 11--TROY, Mo. -- A 50-year-old man who police say caused $10,000 in damage to the emergency room at the Lincoln County Medical Center has been charged.

Felony property damage charges were issued Wednesday against Sean Fitzsimmons of the 100 block of Bethel Road near Hawk Point.

The incident began Tuesday at the America's Best Value Inn in Troy, where police arrested Fitzsimmons on a misdemeanor charge of failure to comply. Fitzsimmons appeared to be intoxicated and was stumbling and mumbling incoherently so officers took him to the hospital.

While in one of the treatment rooms, Fitzsimmons began to scream obscenities and tried to leave, police said. He was handcuffed to his bed, and police said he then began to kick objects in the room, including a monitor.

Bail has been set at $15,000.
