Michigan Officer Hospitalized After Chase

A police officer from Beverly Hills is hospitalized after being injured during a police chase that began in Southfield early today.

Oct. 04--A police officer from Beverly Hills is hospitalized after being injured during a police chase that began in Southfield early today.

The Beverly Hills Department of Public Safety officer's condition is not being released, Lt. Mike Vargas said this morning.

He's being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak after being involved in the chase that began at about 12:35 a.m. in Southfield.

Southfield Police were chasing a man who was involved in an incident at the T.G.I. Friday's at 26299 Evergreen Road.

"They were calling out that they had a chase and it was coming north on Evergreen, and we heard it coming over the radio," Vargas said, adding that he did not know why the chase began. "Once we heard vehicles were coming north, we started heading over in that direction. They came north of 13 Mile, and the car ended up crashing at Evergreen and Beverly."

The suspect is in custody with Southfield Police, Vargas added.

Southfield police were unavailable for comment this morning.
