Sept. 08--EDMOND -- A woman has reported losing $30,000 in cash left in an envelop in a rental car, police said.

On Aug. 25, Edmond Police Officer Aaron London spoke with the victim regarding lost property at the Edmond Police Department, according to an incident report filed by London.

The victim told the officer that she had rented a gray Ford Fusion with Texas license plates from Enterprise, and when she returned it on Aug. 24, she left an envelope with $30,000 in cash in the center compartment, police said. She went back to the business the next day, but it was closed for the weekend.

London located a telephone number for a manager at the business. He said he didn't work that morning so he was not sure where the car was, if it had already been cleaned and/or rented again, police said. He said if the car was not in the parking lot, then he would have to wait until that Monday to look into the incident.

On Aug. 27, the victim contacted London and said the manager had told her the car had been rented on Aug. 25 by a couple and returned, police said. The manager told her the money was not in the car and the renters said they had not found any money when they picked up the car on Aug. 25, police said.

On Aug. 29, London spoke with the manager regarding a separate incident, police said. He said he spoke with the employee who helped the victim get all of her belongings out of the car, and he looked through all of the cubby holes but never saw an envelop, police said.

No other information was available.
