Aug. 28--New Mexico State Police are asking the public for any information regarding the theft of more than 300 laptop computers from a commercial vehicle parked at the Fast Stop Truck Stop in San Jon on Aug. 12.
During the overnight hours, a person or persons forced the entry into the trailer of the commercial vehicle and made off with three pallets containing 301 Compaq Presario laptop computers worth more than $100,000, according to a Department of Public Safety news release.
The driver of the vehicle, who had been sleeping in the cab, discovered the burglary around 6 a.m. as he was inspecting the truck, the release said. He noticed that the padlock and security seal on the trailer were gone and when he opened the door, he saw that the pallets were missing.
Anyone with information is asked to call State Police in Tucumcari at (575) 461-3300.
