Puerto Rico Officer Killed During Drug Operation

A Puerto Rico Police Department officer was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon during a narcotics operation.

A Puerto Rico Police Department officer was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon during a narcotics operation, reports elnuevodia.com.

The officer, of the Drug Division of Bayamon, was identified by authorities as Wilfredo Ramos Nieves, 42, a 15 year-veteran of the department and father of four.

He reportedly died on the scene while waiting for the arrival of an ambulance. 

Officials told the media that Ramos Nieves, five constables and a sergeant went to the site of the investigation and observed two individuals, one with a firearm.

The individual opened fire on the group and caught Ramos Nieves.

Authorities soon arrested two men in the shooting, and the FBI was evaluating the incident to determine whether to assume jurisdiction.
